About the courses
The sailing course gives you the skills to work as a crew member on a sailboat and is therefore ideal for the beginner sailor. Also for someone who needs more confidence to operate a boat or help with the sailing terminology. The sailing course teaches seamanship, sailing and boat handling. No previous knowledge or skills in sailing and navigation are required. The course consists of a theory day (8h) and sailing days/nights (24h active sailing in total)
The inshore skipper course
focuses on departure and arrival preparations, maneuvering under sail and engine, mooring techniques, skipper fundamentals, navigation, route planning, and safety procedures. To enroll, you must have successfully completed Navigation 1 (or an equivalent course) and logged at least 100 nautical miles as a crew member. However, prior skippering experience is not required. The course consists of two theory lessons (8h in total) and sailing days/nights (24h active sailing in total).
Both courses will be offered in Finnish and English in spring and autumn 2025. Registration for the autumn courses starts 28.07.2025. at 14.00.
Registration for the course is done via the form below. Filling in the form does not guarantee admission to the course. Places will be filled on a first come, first served basis, taking into account group selection. As we are a student sailing club, we also give preference to students if needed when selecting courses. Admission to the course will be announced by e-mail.
